Inspired by... images of summer
I've been thinking about what "speaks" summer to me...
I'd been sighing over all the gorgeous "peony posts" I've been seeing out there in blogland... wishing I had my very own... well, look what appeared in the local flower shop?
{sigh}
Heavenly scented peonies for my very own desk top! Textured with Kim's peony texture, of course! Do you like the brush I used? Check back on Thursday for a surprise!
Hmmm' what do we have here?
Of course, summer means lizards! Aslan and Tracker were intensely focused on their prey playmate. Disclaimer: no actual lizards were dismembered or killed during this episode
I may not have fresh peonies blooming in my front yard, but I am blessed with an abundance of another one of my favorite summer blooms.
The crepe myrtle are stunning this year! {yes, I say that every year!}
Another key summer "speak" is produce! Texas peaches are in abundance right now!
Peachy Goodness Peach Cobbler
Source: allrecipes.com
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1 (16 ounce) can sliced peaches or 2 cups fresh peaches, sliced
- 1 cups sugar, divided
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (or to taste) brown sugar
Directions
- Pour butter into a shallow 2-qt. baking dish; set aside. Drain peaches, reserving 1/4 cup juice. In a saucepan, bring the peaches and juice just to a boil. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, flour, milk, baking powder and salt; mix well. Pour over butter in baking dish. Spoon hot peaches over batter. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes or until cake tests done. Serve warm.
Scoop up some peachy goodness! Yum!
So. . . how does summer speak to you?
Have a wonder-filled day,
