Inspired by. . . a challenge
I've missed participating in Photo Art Friday lately. We've been so busy the last couple of weeks, I just haven't had the time to sit and be creative! ~ I've missed it!!!
When Bonnie put out this challenge 10 days ago I knew it would be fun, and I was right! I can't wait to see what everyone came up with!
The challenge:
Create a piece of abstract photo art using these components:
* pdpa Dropped Petals texture/background
* one other pdpa texture, and
* one or two images of your own, or images procured from the web
* the above 3 or 4 required components can each be used more than once in your abstract
After reading over the challenge again just now, I realize I did not use a second texture in my image. So I guess I "failed" the challenge. No worries! It was fun, fulfilling and I'm pleased with the final result.
That's what matters, right!
I didn't have any idea at all what I wanted to do for this challenge. I just started looking through my cache of pictures and let the pictures inspire me. Here are the components I used:
I started with the garden image in Photoshop. I played around with some of the artistic filter options, finally settling on the fresco filter. I then applied Bonnie's texture. I forgot to write it down, but I'm pretty certain I used the color burn blend mode. The rose image was next. I reduced the "fill" of the rose layer quite low and used a soft brush to erase the square-ness of the image. I played around with another texture over/under the rose, but decided I liked it this way. The image still needed something, so I added the text.
If you haven't played with the filters in Photoshop very much, I encourage you to do so. I admit, I haven't used them very much, but every time I do, the result is very fun and pleasing!
Bonnie's texture really is lovely. Thank you, Bonnie, for sharing your beautiful textures and encouraging us with this challenge!
Don't forget to click over to the gallery to see how everyone used it in their art. I'm heading there now!
Have a wonder-filled day!
