Inspired by . . . drowning: a poem
Feet firmly fixed
shoulders back
face turned upward
I stand
Beneath an ocean
pouring out
one
drop
at a
time
It breaks
over my head
stealing my breath
one
drop
at a
time
I stand
feet firmly fixed
on the Rock
*****
Blessings,
June

June...Sweet poem today. Thank you. Visiting from The Weekend Brew.
ReplyDeleteAmen, June. As I read your heart-words, all I can think of is that old hymn, 'on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand ...'
ReplyDeleteHow's your daddy doing?
You speak volumes to my heart in so few words. Thank you for your offering of worship at The Weekend Brew today!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting! Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites, Linda! I wasn't thinking of that hymn, but it certainly fits! Thank you for asking about Dad. Sadly, he passed away last Wednesday. It's been a rough few days, but God is faithful. Thank you so much for your prayers. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad these words blessed you, Mary! Honestly, I don't think much of myself as a poet, but these words would not leave me alone until I set them free. Thank you for your kind words, you always bless me!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, Barbie! I haven't been "visiting" around much these last few weeks, but you've been on my heart and in my prayers. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThis was so beautiful. It spoke such peace to me today. I am asking the Lord to help me stand, to face the floods of life one drop at a time, hand and hand with Him.
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS.
What a beautiful piece! Haunting. Standing on the rock gives you that measure of safety. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh June ... I am sorry for this deep loss. Praying for comfort and strength as you grieve, my friend...
ReplyDeleteJune, What a beautiful and heartfelt poem. I love that these words haunted you until you set them free. The vision of you with feet firmly planted on the the rock is an inspiration for me - seems I'm always sliding every which way. But you remain strong and planted even beneath an ocean pouring out. I'm embracing this journey - and to be firmly planted in faith is my goal.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Powerful.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm in a parallel universe today. I've visited at least three other people today that had reference to a firm foundation, or water and waves, and as you know my own rock. I will be praying for you too, that He will help you stand on the rock when you can't, and for you to still see the rainbow between the dark clouds! xo
ReplyDelete"feet firmly fixed on the rock"...how powerful!
