Inspired by . . . a month in photos: February
I’m joining with Mona once again for a look back at the month, in photos.
February continued on where January left off. My dad once again has a new home. This time an eternal one. I can think of few events that would have such a profound effect on my world as his passing. Except for a few years in my early twenties, my dad and I have lived together all of my life. His absence is profound, and it will take a long time to settle into this new normal.
My dad’s life-work was genealogy. As an on-going tribute to him I’ve created a blog www.arandompost.com For those of you who are interested in personal stories, or anything with historical significance, you may eventually find something of interest there. Postings will be very random, and my dad’s last name was Post, so it’s a bit of a play on words. {smile}
In the meantime, here’s a look back at February 2015:
Quote of the month:
Grief never ends . . .
but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith . . .
it is the price of LOVE.

Sprinklings of God’s mercy and grace:
1. Gifts of love and new life from a dear friend
2. A gentle and compassionate man that helped us with end of life decisions
3. God’s strength to get through each day
4. Prayers and support of family and friends
5. Cards and letters filled with memories of Dad
When you look back at your February,
what do you see?
Blessings,

Oh June, so sorry for your loss! Despite the hard times I love the fact that your collage is so bright and harmonic and already shows so much spring! I envy you for that ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for lining up. Have the best March - see you soon!
Dear June, I am sorry for your loss - Your dad is now at his heavenly home, like you write ... A comfort in the middle of the grief and longing the promise, that one day you will se him again - An encouraging verse from Rev. 21:4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
ReplyDeleteJune-Please know I am praying for you during this time of learning a new normal without your dad. The quote you shared above about grief is perfect. It is true that grief never ends and is not a place to dwell but there is a path that each person follows that is unique to them that takes you to a place of understanding and peace. Your photos are beautiful and you share so much of your heart in each. Prayers and blessings my friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, Nina. Reading through my dad's bible after he passed, seeing the scriptures he highlighted and underlined was a great comfort. It is definitely "my" loss, his gain. Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures came in between grey days and freezing rain, lol! I'm so enjoying your challenge to look back each month, Mona! Happy March - welcome spring!
ReplyDeleteSweet Mary, thank you for your prayers. Truly, the prayers of friends and family are helping me walk this path. Have a blessed week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteJune, I offer you my deepest condolences. It was just a little over a year ago that I lost my dad, and yesterday would have been his birthday. I loved the quote you added today - yes, grief doesn't go away, but it does change. And, the Lord works His comforting ways deep into a sad heart, and we come out the other side knowing and understanding more about His love.
ReplyDeleteMaybe our dads have met now?!
GOD BLESS!
June, I love how you find reinforcement for your faith in nature. Your favorite photo of the month is my favorite, too! I could see this printed as a card of encouragement for a friend. And in this case, please permit me to offer my genuine sympathy for your loss. I love how much you love your father, and I can relate to how much you miss him. People often tell me I take after my Dad, and though he's been gone for 17 years, I still miss him and often think of how much he enriched my life. Your new blog will be a wonderful tribute to him - and I'm on my way to visit there next. Thank you for reaching out to share your life experiences, even the sad ones, rather than isolating yourself. You help me in more ways than you could know.
ReplyDeleteI think you may be right, Sharon! and how sweet to know they shared close birthdays. I thought of you when I posted this quote and have been remembering you in my prayers for comfort. Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteIf it's true what people say {and I'm sure it is!}, then I know I would have liked your dad, Donna. You are one of the most warm and welcoming people I know. You words are always a great encouragement to me. Thank you, friend.
ReplyDeleteMy sincerest and deepest condolences on the loss of your father. This new chapter of your life will be challenging and feel empty for a while, but your faith will sustain you. May God's eternal light shine on your father and may he rest in peace. My prayers are with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gail, truly. Your words, prayers and encouragement mean a great deal to me, my friend,
