Inspired by... pinwheels

I tried.

I really did.

Some of you may remember, back in my Red, White and Blue post, I said I wanted one wreath I could leave up all summer.

Well, I almost made it to Fall...

But I kept seeing all this great inspiration!

I love this burlap wreath with the pennant that Laurie over at Gallamore West made! and these sweet rosettes from Jennifer at Delightfully Noted – love! Janet from Today's Fabulous Finds made the fun "bubble" burlap wreath on the left.

As you've probably guessed by now, I had to make a new wreath for my front door!

So, now that I've tooted everyone else's horn...

Here is my version:

... and here is how I did it:

I took apart my red, white and blue wreath and re-wrapped the straw form with 3 inch strips of burlap. You could probably use those U shaped florists pins to attach them, but I didn't have any, so I used my glue gun.

The straw form is getting a little worn, so this will probably be the last recycle!

I had some square pieces left over from my Lizzie project and used them to make pinwheels.

I've been lovin' all the different pennants I've been seeing all over blog-land and decided to make a welcoming one for the other side of the wreath.

Pennant_Wreath

I hot-glued the individual pennants to some jut, tied a bow at each end and pinned them to the wreath.

Admittedly, it's a little different from my usual style.  But I think it turned out cute!

What do you think?

Oh, and here is what we did with the extra burlap.

He's all tuckered out after helping mamma make the wreath!

What's been inspiring you lately?

  2. I love the wreath, June! The way you mixed the pennants and the pinwheels was very clever! I like the burlap too - I've never made a wreath with burlap but I'd like to try it out.
