Inspired by . . . 31 Days - His Name
(Scroll down for links to all 31 Days)
And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You,
O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psa 9:10
Tucked into the sleeve of my bible cover is a well-worn bookmark. I’ve had it for years, and I go to it again and again. Just as I go to my bible.
Seeking Him. Longing to know Him more.
This bookmark, put out by Precept Ministries, opens to reveal seventeen names of God.
Seeing His name, written, speaking His name, aloud, brings Him closer and draws me into worship.
There is power in His name.
Power to heal. (James 5:14)
Power to bless. (Mark 11:9)
Power to save. (Psalm 116:4; Rom 10:13)
His name is hallowed. Holy. (Mat 6:9)
It is not to be uttered in vain contempt. (Exo 20:7)
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. {Joh 4:24} He is infinitely far above our ability to fully understand. Yet, He graciously reveals Himself to us through His word. And it is through His names and descriptions (attributes) of Himself, revealed in scripture, that we can more fully know Him.
For the next 31 days, we will be searching the scriptures for the specific truths that God has revealed about Himself.
These truths will be offered here as a guide to help enrich your time spent with Him.
We will worship God together, focusing on Him and His character!
Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to us in Your word. We know that You will never forsake those who seek You.
Enlighten us, Lord. Open our hearts and minds to understand You more fully. In Jesus name, Amen.
