Inspired by. . . EarlK

One of the things I love most about blogging is my fellow bloggers, their creativity, and the inspiration they are to me.

Many of you commented that my lily image from last week's post looking like a painting.

Then I found Earl's lovely submission when browsing through the Texture Tuesday gallery last week.

Earl's well done tutorial inspired me to play a bit in Photoshop.

No textures applied here. Just playing around with the artistic filters in CS2.  The inspire brush is part of a free brush set I gave away for my birthday last year. It's still available for download, here.

I was further inspired when I saw Stephanie's beautiful layout.  And decided I was long over due for one of my own.

Once again, on the background photo I used the artistic filters in CS2. I used Kim's deardreamer texture on the Biltmore photo. The scrapbooking elements are from Delicious Scraps.

It's been awhile since I've done digital scrapbooking. It was an enjoyable afternoon!

Have a wonder-filled day,

I enjoyed working with Jenn's Autumn Air freebie. All the kits in the Autumn Air collection coordinate, so it's easy to mix and match the elements and papers you like the best.

You can drop into the hop anywhere along the way.  Digi Scrap Connect has a master list available here.  Got photos? I'd love to see what you come up with, so if you make a page, please come back and post your link in a comment.

Happy Fall y'all!

Inspired by... love {freebie}

Jack_Doris

It's time for another {free} computer desktop and what better theme for February than cherish?  This month's desktop features Dancing Princess Design kits:

 Red Hot Valentine

and Sweet Nothings

Sweet Nothings_01

You can download two sizes of this {free} desktop here.

So what does it mean to cherish someone?

Main Entry:       cher-ish

Pronunciation:    ‚cher-ish, ‚che-rish

Function:         transitive verb

Etymology:        Middle English cherisshen, from Anglo-French cheriss-, stem of cherir to cherish, from cher dear, from Latin carus — more at CHARITY

Date:             14th century

1 a : to hold dear : feel or show affection for <cherished her friends> b : to keep or cultivate with care and affection : NURTURE <cherishes his marriage>
2 : to entertain or harbor in the mind deeply and resolutely <still cherishes that memory>

Source: Merriam-Webster

Cherish is an action word and definition "b"  really speaks to me. Imagine if we really worked to cultivate care and affection (in appropriate amounts, of course) in all our relationships?

Hmmm, I'm thinkin' cherish might be a good one-word-goal for 2012!

What do you think?

Inspired by... comfort & JOY {freebie}

Greetings!  Goodness, this is a busy week for me! I'm getting ready for an event on Saturday, which I'll share with you, hopefully Sunday if I don't pass out for 24 hours first!

I did (somehow) find the time to put together a free December desktop for you though!  I used Jenn's (Dancing Princess Designs) kit, Comfort & JOY and really, really love it!  I definitely need to get busy scrapping some past Christmas memories with this kit!

Here's my layout, featuring last year's Christmas present:

Mincey_1024

That's Mincey! Isn't she sweet?  My mom and I both got kittens for Christmas last year. Very fun! (and a great incentive to take down the Christmas decorations!)

I think most of you have met MY baby kitty a.k.a. Aslan.

Bed_Upside_Down

But I digress... today's post is all about welcoming the (insert musical notes here) most wonderful time.... of the year! With a free desktop for YOU!  Download your choice of two sizes HERE.

I've been offering these free desktops for about 4 or 5 months now and I'd love to receive the gift of feedback from all of you!  I don't have a fancy "take a poll" form, but would like to know:

1. Am I offering enough size options? if not, what size do you need?

2. Would you like a second desktop choice that doesn't require adding your own picture?

3. Any other comments, suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I hope you all enjoy this months desktop freebie!

Blessings,
