In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1John 4:10
There is no "which came first, the chicken or the egg" when it comes to God.
He loved us, while we were yet His enemies, persisting and reveling in our sin. (Rom 5:8, 10)
Out of that great love, He made a path for us to return to Him. (John 3:16) Even now, as we set up idols and seek to topple Him, He loves us. He loved us first - He loves us still.
His love is unconditional and complete.
How should we respond to so great a love?
How will you?
I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Jer 31:3
