Inspired by . . . Blessings ‘o the Irish
In celebration of St Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d share with you a wee bit ‘o green lichen and some heartfelt Irish blessings and prayers.
May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.
Christ be with me
Christ before me
Christ behind me
Christ in me
Christ beneath me
Christ above me
Christ on my right
Christ on my left
Christ where I lie
Christ where I sit
Christ where I arise
Christ in the heart of every man
who thinks of me
Christ in the mouth of every man
who speaks of me
Christ in every eye that sees me
Christ in every ear that hears me
Salvation is of the Lord.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Blessings,
June

Love this. With a name like Mary Dolan Flaherty, how could I not? Visiting from Testimony Tuesday
ReplyDeletelove this, June!
ReplyDeleteI gaze at your header after not visiting for 3 weeks, and all I can see is springtime.
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful!
It's so good to see you again, friend!
;-}
My husband is 1/2 Irish and I have just a wee touch of it on my side. I've always loved the Irish prayers and blessings. I'm honored to share this space with you today, Mary!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, friend - you have been missed! I pray you are relaxed and recharged!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Jill! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh June, I just loved these words - (not to mention, your always beautiful photos!) I wore my green today - no pinching for me! (Might make an exception for my hubby! LOL!)
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS!
a gorgeous series of photos with amazing color and texture!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and words!
ReplyDeleteJune, These Irish poems are lovely and soothing. What amazing plants as well. Thank you for stopping by. Since you are in the Hill Country, you will be seeing the beauty all around you now and pretty soon for the rest! We hope to pick the right few days to come up that way for the flowers. Yes, I have never had our laurel in this kind of bloom. It is a small tree yet, but it is just loaded with the fragrant flowers.
ReplyDeleteCaring through Christ, ~ linda
June, What a wonderful collection of blessings - each so heartfelt and uplifting. Your images of green, so restful and hopeful and spring-like, remind me of renewal. And again, my need to start fresh this season. Your lichen pictures, like fine botanical illustrations, show detail and texture with such beauty!
ReplyDeleteWonderful blessings and pictures. I'd never heard that… guess I'm a bit to far removed from my Irish roots!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Sharon! I've had Marty on my mind today... hope the little guy is doing okay. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly! I wish we had more "fungi" type things around here. We've had an abundance of rain this year so there are more around that usual. I've actually found mushrooms! These lichen remind me of the coral you find under the sea. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Donna! I appreciate you stopping by!
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be a good year for wildflowers with all the rain we've had. The bluebonnets are already blooming, but I haven't spotted much else. I'm hoping to get to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin this year, we've never been. Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteI have a whole collection of fungi photos from a trip to the Adirondacks a few years ago. I love mushrooms and all things lichen/fungi-ish. They form entire worlds for the "little creatures" on the forest floor and I guess I like to entertain those fanciful thoughts when I photographing them. Maybe someday I'll do a series and photoshope some tiny creatures into my photos :) Your comments always encourage, Donna, thank you :)
ReplyDeleteThe Scottish have some beautiful prayers, too. I love to read them in the old tongue. Nice to see you here, Floyd! Hope your girl had a blessed adventure!
